Fashion at the Oscars

There were so many dresses I loved that I couldn't include them all. So many celebs came to the red carpet looking AMAZING. See below for some of my favorite and not-so-favorite looks of the night. Let's leap on into it (bc its Leap Day... Haha, bad joke)...

Beautiful Oscar-Worthy Looks

Jennifer Lawrence

Dior

Jennifer Lawrence looked SO chic! Everything from hair to makeup to dress. I love her new hair. My only issue was that she didn't seem like herself last night. She looked very quiet and reserved when the cameras were on her, which is very unlike her. I feel it's due to the fact that she was scrutinized for being "a bitch" at the last awards show. It seemed like she was trying to keep a low profile last night instead of being her normal silly self. We still love you JLaw, screw the haters and be you honey.

That being said, her dress looked beyond amazing on her. The overall look is super chic and cool! She ties for my absolute favorite look of the night. Gorgeousa!!!

Leonardo DiCaprio

Armani

If you know me AT ALL and/or read my blog posts you know I'm obsessed with Leonardo DiCaprio. Last night he looked so gorgeous. He looked so dapper and those piercing turquoise eyes were sparkling with hope, then excitement and vindication, and, as always, class. Congrats on the oscar win, Leo!

Priyanka Chopra

Zuhair Murad

Yup had to google how to spell that one. Ummm she looks freaking amazing. AMAZING. Beautiful. Hair and makeup on point. Her dress looks and fits perfect on her. I think she ties for best look of the night. Obsessed.  It's a tie between P. and JLaw for my absolute favorite look of the night. LOVE.

Saoirse Ronan

Calvin Klein Collection

This is the second time she landed on my best dressed list! This dress is just, wow. She looks awesome in the emerald green. The back, which I didn't even notice at first, is to die for! She has made such a transformation since her first awards show. Her hair and her makeup look amaze. She just looks like an absolute star. I love all of it.

Reese Witherspoon

Oscar de la Renta

I just wanted to note that I love her makeup. Fresh faced and beautiful, love. Not obsessed with the dress but its a beautiful color on her nonetheless. Thumbs up for makeup. So-so for dress.

Rachel McAdams

August Getty Atelier

I thought it was cool that she took a risk. I love that her dress had a high slit in the front and was very low in the back. She wore it well and looked both elegant and sexy in it. However, I wasn't as crazy about the hair and makeup with the overall look. I also think some shapewear could have helped this dress have a more tailored look to her body. But overall, I like it!

Chrissy Teigan

Marchesa

Chrissy looks super glamorous but also feminine. I love how she's glowing from being pregnant. She didn't overdo it on the makeup and I like how her hair makes her look very elegant. I also really love this complete head to toe look.

Isla Fisher

Marchesa

I think Isla looks incredibly classy and beautiful here. Makeup and hair on point. Dress, while it's not a WOW dress, it fits her amazing and she looks beautiful and classic. I heard she landed on some worst dressed lists, but boo to them!

Liz Hernandez

Michael Costello

I had no idea who this woman was. But she looked amazing. The dress makes her look a little wide in the hips, but who cares. Curves are in and she looks great! This dress is hott and the hair and makeup look amazing too.  I googled her and she's from Access Hollywood. This dress is super sexy but elegant at the same time. Love it.

Kevin Hart

Dolce & Gabbana

Only a confident man that doesn't take himself too seriously can wear this tux. I did a double take and wasn't sure how I felt about it. But I decided he's cool for taking a risk and he was light hearted and fun about it. I liked it, Kevin!

Chris Rock

Christian Louboutin Shoes

Chris Rock rockin the Louboutins. You know I love my Loubs!! Looking sharp as the host, Chris.

Naomi Watts

Armani Prive

I'm totally on the fence about this one. I kind of don't like this dress, but I also can't stop staring at it.  It's so high fashion and unique. I'm not in love with it, but I appreciate it. it's very fashion forward and the colors are really beautiful. I think the necklace kind of clashes though, it's a total opposite look. I think with such an aggressive dress Naomi could have opted for a more subtle necklace. She totes looks like a runway mermaid, and I kind of like it. It's kind of like a guilty pleasure dress. I enjoy looking at it, but also feel weird about it. Overall, I'll give it a thumbs up for edge and style. Fashion is all about taking risks and standing out, and she certainly did.

Looks I Didn't Love...

Brie Larson

Gucci

Another hair and makeup miss for me, Brie. Actually, her entire look was a miss for me. I didn't like the dress at all. Sorry Gucci but it looked cheap to me & I did not like that belt at all. Also, I can't stand what her hair and makeup team does to her. Her hair looks so childish and, again, her makeup was poorly executed. She was an Oscar winner last night, and she didn't look like one to me. In the grand scheme of things, it doesn't matter how you look. But, it's nice to look back on winning a freakin OSCAR and saying, damn I looked good when I won. Oh well. She looks happy here, that's what matters. & It was super cute when she hugged her little costar Jacob Tremblay when she won. Props for that!

Alicia Vikander

Louis Vuitton

This girl is naturally gorgeous. She's a beautiful woman and her excitement made her shine. However, I was not into this dress. In my opinion it wasn't fancy enough for the Oscars and it was just... ok. It looked like a dress you'd wear to a Hamptons summer party. Also, a little too teeny-bopper for me. Personally, I'm not into it, but again she's still beautiful and radiant. Just, her dress isn't.

The Bear from The Revenant

Jonah Hill did it on the Globes and it wasn't funny. Someone did it in the Oscars' audience and it wasn't funny.  It's just not funny. I feel like they're poking fun at Leo and I don't like it. Don't mess with my man, guys in bear suits. Worst look of the night. LOL ;)

SAG Awards - Best and Worst Dressed Celebs IMHO

Truthfully, I don't really like award shows. All I like to watch is the E! Red Carpet and see the celebrities and what they're wearing. & Leonardo DiCaprio, always Leonardo DiCaprio. Swoon...

Ok, yes, I'm already married but my husband is OK with my Leo obsession

Ok, yes, I'm already married but my husband is OK with my Leo obsession

Disclosure... as much as I don't like women hating on other women, it's all in good fun when we discuss celebrities and their dresses for award shows. I have the utmost respect for all (most) of these women. Ok, now let me make fun of them and be superficial...

Eva Longoria

Eva Longoria... freakin' AMAZING. She has a hot bod and clearly was responding to haters from the Golden Globes. Truth be told, I thought she looked great at the Globes, too. Very classy. But here at the SAGs, dammmnnnnnn!!!! I think her hair wasn't great, honestly, but overall she looked insanely beautiful. Makeup on point, dress on point, body on point. I also love that she has a great personality and is super down to earth. Killin' it Eva!

Gaby Hoffmann

Ok, now I'm going to be mean. I'm sorry but I have to be honest. Gaby Hoffmann. Errrrrrr she looked ROUGH. I didn't even realize she was the same girl as the main character in Now and Then! She def peaked (visually) in that movie. I was not a fan of this look. Sorry Gaby! (& sorry to my cousin Lisa who loves her). But this was bad news. She's only 34 and looked like someone's crazy aunt. Not a good look.

                     Then                                                   &                                Now...

                     Then                                                   &                                Now...

Christina Hendricks

Christina Hendricks is such a beautiful woman, but I don't understand what was up with her dress. This may be her last SAG awards show since Mad Men is over. I think she has great skin and a great body. Very Marilyn Monroe-eque - you don't have to be a size 2 to have a great body. But this dress was all wrong. The color was too light for her skin tone and it was tight in all the wrong places. The material was super heavy and I just wasn't feeling it. She's such a beautiful woman and she (or her stylist) did not produce a win on this one. P.S. Is her husband the dude from Super Troopers? That kind of makes me like her more.

Helen Mirren

Oh my god. I'm sorry but Helen Mirren is hott! How old is this chick? Hold on while I google it...  70, wow. She looks amazing. She also exudes this dope confidence. I seriously love this dress on her and I truly think she rocked it. I think Idris Elba agrees ;)

Susan Sarandon and... um... her daughter... apparently her name is Eva Amurri

I don't get this. I mean it's super cool that she's confident enough to show the tats. But... if I'm going to wear a shirt so low that it shows my bra I'm going to 1) make sure its a damn sexy bra and 2) make sure my boobs look amazing and perky. Kudos for being daring, but the execution is a fail for me. Love the confidence, though.

I think her daughter's dress looked eye catching... great color, great cut outs, but it definitely could have been a bit more fitted especially around the boob area. The Sarandon ladies could definitely benefit from a push up bra. But, again, love the rockin' confidence.

Saoirse Ronan

I had a rough time spelling that name. OK, so her dress isn't exactly my favorite of the night.  I'm not blown away by it, but I really liked it on her. I think she looked incredibly classy. The last award show she looked nice, but way too laid back. For the SAGs she looked very elegant, a young elegance. The hair, the dress, the jewelry. I think she looked beautiful.  This isn't the best picture below representative of how she looked on TV, but trust me she was ON POINT.

Brie Larson

Side note I love the name Brie. Just Brie. Anyway, so I think Brie's dress was really gorgeous on her. She has a sick body and wore it well. My only issue is that I feel like her attire consistently is not cohesive with her hair and makeup. At the Globes, her dress was AMAZING. But her hair and makeup contrasted it with. At the SAG awards, again, her dress looked amazing on her, but her hair and makeup fell flat. She's a beautiful girl with a beautiful body, but needs to up her hair and makeup game. Call me, Brie! I'll help with your makeup game honey ;)

Laverne Cox

I'm sorry but Laverne rocked this outfit! She looked amazing and she knew it. Hair, makeup, outfit, gorgeosa!!!! If I'm being super picky I'm not feeling the pedicure or shoes. But she looks amaze!!! That dress on her... wow. Channeling Queen Bey.

Can you not Bring a Gift to a Wedding? Sure, if you're a Jerk...

Can you not give someone a gift for their wedding? Physically, yes, you have the capability to avoid the ATM or refuse to write a check. You can even cover your eyes when you pass the card store. Some blogs will tell you that you don’t have to give the bride and groom a gift. I find that to be complete and utter BS.

I’m someone who has been on both sides of it. I’ve been both a bride and a guest.  I’ve attended weddings when I wasn’t making much money at my previous job. But guess what I still did? I gave the bride and groom a gift! For some weddings I gave more, for some I gave less. But, despite any circumstances, I gave something. In my opinion, if you’re planning on going to someone’s wedding, you either give them a gift or you don’t go.

                                                         Enjoy this Leo meme, swoon!

                                                         Enjoy this Leo meme, swoon!

To quote Heidi M. from a WeddingBee forum: “When you’re invited to a wedding, you bring a gift. No ifs, ands, or buts. Maybe things are different outside of the east coast, but if you’ve chosen to attend a wedding, you most definitely bring a gift. Would you go to a friend’s house for dinner without bringing a bottle of wine, or some dessert? No, I hope not! It’s the same premise. If you were going out to dinner you’d have to pay the bill, why would you attend a wedding, drink unlimited drinks, eat great food, and not bring a gift? That’s crazy. This topic makes me livid! Attending a wedding and not giving a gift is extremely rude. If you’re that down and out, stay home and make up some excuse as to why you can’t go, and then send the newlyweds a nice card acknowledging their new marriage. Couples send out save the dates and invites almost a year before the wedding, if you can’t put aside $5 a week to get them something decent, then really, just don’t go. The couple will understand.”

I could not agree more. I find it extremely rude. We had about 7 people not give us gifts at all. Yes, really! 3 people (one couple, and one person who was coming solo) plain and simple did not show up for our wedding. They RSVP’d yes, but did not show up, nor give a reason or apologize, nor send a card or gift. The 4 remaining people came, danced, drank their faces off, ate, ate some more, drank some more, and went home.

It costs the bride and groom so much money to put a wedding together and it is incredibly insulting when people don’t so much as give you a small gift, or even a congratulatory card. I can understand not following the "you should cover your plate" rule, as we determined that probably 85 percent of our guests did not cover their plates. But our budget is not their budget. Some people go and give what they want to give/ can give, despite what the plates cost, and that's fine! But going and not giving a gift at all? Not showing up and not sending a gift? Not fine! I truly find it unbelievable.

So can you go to a wedding and not give a gift? Sure! Can you RSVP yes, and not show up? Mmmm k! But if you do either of those things, then, plain and simple, you're a jerk.
